Formats in the Canadian Retail Industry

Polytechnic University, 1994Many new ‘Big Box’ or ‘Large Format’ retailers have opened in Canada during the late 1980s and early 1990s. A number have entered from the U.S. market where this growth occurred during the early 80s, while others have been spawned by Canadian firms. This research explores, quantifies and evaluates the nature of the new retail formats in the Canadian retail environment.
