Wendy Evans

Wendy Evans, pictured above, is the founder of Evans and Company Consultants Inc. which provides  marketing, financial and management services to a broad range of clients. Since 1987 we have had the privilege of advising some of North America’s best-known retailers and clients in the wholesale and government sectors.

Having held executive positions in three national retail chains, Wendy developed a successful track record in the many facets of retail management. She brings to her clients a pragmatic approach and extensive best practice knowledge gained through consulting for over 20 years to many exceptional international retail organizations.

She has worked in all levels of the supply chain including managing an import business and dealing with the various aspects of international trade.  As a leading authority on cross border international expansion, Evans has worked with many retailers in this field. She spearheaded ground breaking research dealing with the issues of cross border retailing between Canada, the United States, Mexico and Europe.

She is well known as the author of Border Crossings, a book published by Prentice Hall dealing with international retailing, and a finalist in the National Business Book Awards. In addition she has published some 15 more working papers and articles on international expansion, and most recently authored Greening Retail, – It Makes Good Business Sense.

She has expanded her focus to promote sustainability and assist retailers to adopt best environmental practices, enhancing the bottom line, and increasing international competitiveness.

Wendy is an Adjunct Professor in the Ted Rogers School of Business at Ryerson University and has taught retail marketing. Widely quoted in the national and international media, Evans has spoken at international conferences in the United States, Europe and South America, has appeared on numerous business television programs such as Venture, Canada AM, and ROB TV and is a frequent guest on local and national business radio.

Evans has both chaired and been a director of several industry initiatives, including the Retail Learning Initiative and the Ontario Retail Sector Strategy. She is a director on the board of the North West Company, is a Member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Ted Rogers School of Business, is on the Corporate Cabinet of the Conservation Foundation, and has served on a number of other corporate and not-for-profit boards including Sun Life Financial Trust, The Canadian Cancer Society, The Toronto Symphony Volunteer Committee, and as President and Chair of the Granite Club. Evans received her Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.
